On October 16th, 2015, Mahli completed a writing prompt of “My favorite place is…”. Mahli was able to complete six sentences, and she spelt 45/54 words correctly about Hawaii. Mahli appears to be a writer that uses great creativity. She was able to describe in great detail the color of the sunsets and tropical drinks. Mahli appears to be on grade level for writing skills.

 

To further increase her writing skills, the teacher can encourage Mahli to write in a journal about topics she finds interesting. The teacher can also allow Mahli to use a dictionary or word wall to help with vocabulary and writing fluency.
