Also on October 1st, 2015, Mahli completed the Concepts About Print Assessment. Mahli earned a raw score of 3/3 for book orientation, 3/3 for difference between illustrations and print, 4/4 for directionality of print, and 8/8 for print terminology. The results indicate that Mahli is proficient with concepts about print. It appears that Mahli is on grade level with other second grade students for concepts of print.

To reinforce concepts about print, the teacher can review with students various concepts and create higher order thinking questions such as “When do we use the question mark” instead of having students simply label punctuation marks.
