Mahli, a seven-year-old second grader at Hillsborough Academy of Math and Science, completed the Reading Attitude Survey on September 23, 2015. Mahli scored a raw score of 34 for recreational reading and a raw score of 30 for academic reading. Mahli’s combined full scale raw score was 64. The results indicate that Mahli has a positive attitude towards reading. It appears Mahli’s enjoyment of reading for recreational and academics is typical of second graders.

 

To help improve Mahli’s over attitude, Mahli should be given choice of what books she would like to read. In addition, Mahli’s teacher should stock her library with a variety of books that meet the interests of her students.
