Phonemic Awareness
On October 9, 2015, Mahli completed the Quick Phonemic Awareness Assessment Device. Mahli had a raw score of 5/5, or 100%. Since Mahli had no errors on this assessment, the results indicate that Mahli has a strong sense of phonemic awareness. It appears the Mahli’s phonemic awareness is typical of a second grader.
While Mahli has excellent phonemic awareness, the teacher can continue allow Mahli to manipulate words by writing or with the use of magnetic letters. Mahli should be given multiple opportunities to manipulate letter sounds to create new words.
